The link above will direct you to a really interesting “infographic.” It shows the progression of music mediums from 1981 to now in an animated pie graph GIF. It shows the demise of EP/LP records, the growth and demise of cassettes, the massive rise of CDs and the fall of CDs to digital music.
As the author points out, you can’t help but think, “what’s next?” He goes so far as to question whether we should even assume people want to own music. With the rise of Pandora and Spotify, it’s definitely an interesting question ponder.
