Title: What Makes Steve Jobs So Great?
Article by: Cliff Kuang
In the wake of Steve Jobs announcement that he is stepping down from his position as CEO at Apple, there have been countless news reports about Steve Jobs: the man, Steve Jobs: the executive, Steve Jobs: the visionary, etc.
This particular article really hits the nail on the head as far as “What Makes Steve Jobs So Great.”
There’s no short answer, but there some really solid points. Kuang says,
“Steve Jobs may not be the greatest technologist or engineer of his generation. But he is perhaps the greatest user of technology to ever live, and it was Apple’s great fortune that he also happened to be the company’s founder. “
Steve Jobs thought about technology the way the user would think about technology- not the way managers or technicians thought about it. Kuang notes,
“A reporter who asked Jobs about the market research that went into the iPad was famously told, “None. It’s not the consumers’ job to know what they want.”
Steve Jobs is always two steps ahead. Kuang divulges that at Apple, when people are presenting new products, they have to present the next two generations of that product as well.
In short, among other things, Steve Jobs is a great visionary and a champion of technology for people.
