HBO and New York City’s MTA have partnered up to promote Boardwalk Empire’s second season.  During weekends in September they will be putting an actual subway train from the 1920s back in service on the 2 and 3 lines.  Originally, the train was in service on the IRT system, which began in 1917.  The cars will be in service between 42nd and 96th St between 12pm and 6pm.  The cars have the same authentic details as it originally had- including “rattan seats, ceiling fans, and drop sash windows.”
